This character, seen on hundreds of rock art sites, roamed the Southwest visiting and trading with various tribes. The hump on his back is interpreted by some to be a bag of seeds. This myth along with his phallic depiction sometimes and the rumor that he was welcomed by barren ladies, feared by maidens identifies him as a symbol of fertility.
