Mola Items

Call them souvenirs, collectibles, knick knacks, the Kunas love to make the items tourists like to buy. There are a lot of unique things that can be found in Panama shops made by the Kunas.

Some are mini molas, "molitas". Some of them are full sized molas made especially for selling to the tourist trade. Although they do not wear them themselves they are happy to create them for travelers to their country. These molas do not always have the traditional outlining and fill-in details but they can be very appealing.

Some of these unique items can be used by creative sewers to make pillows, wall hangings, quilts or to embellish clothing. T shirts can be found in the shops with Kuna designs and these sales really help their economy. Be aware that some of the items can be very gaudy but there are many very tasteful, unique thing you will enjoy.
