Charlotte became interested in "molas" early in her work with appliqué. She has visited the San Blas Islands (Kuna Yala) of Panama many times to observe the lifestyle and the creative process of the Kuna Indians and to collect their molas. Although it can be a very complex technique, she likes to borrow ideas from it to express herself in some of her quilts. Two of her books have been on this subject. None are in print currently.
